The LG G6 is doomed to have a dismal debut by settling for the lower Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 instead of the latest 823 just to launch in time for MWC 2017. Though LG's flagship device is the first non-Pixel phone to have Google Assistant and even ditched its replaceable battery for waterproofing, consumers are still governed by the specs race particularly on processor performance and battery life.

LG G6 Settles for Lower Processor

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 is set to come out in April and Samsung, as the sole manufacturer, will logically have first dibs on the latest premium chipset. This puts the LG G6 to settle for the lower version Snapdragon 821 to make it to MWC next month.

For tech experts, LG's trade-off for a lower spec processor may not be a smart move. Qualcomm has also been known to support their chipsets for a short period of time, which could compromise the performance of LG's flagship device. LG's competitor the Samsung Galaxy S8 is poised to have the Snapdragon 823 SoC, which is made with the 10nm process giving a performance boost and 40 percent lower power consumption.

LG G6 Ditches Removable Battery

LG has ditched the replaceable battery on the LG G6 in place of a sealed battery inside. This indicates that LG may be adding waterproofing or water-resistant features in its newest iteration according to CNET.

The LG G6 is actually the last one to ditch the removable battery, but for its loyal customers, the move is hardly welcomed. For some users, keeping an inexpensive and small battery pack is much more convenient than lugging a bulky power bank or charger.

It is also more expensive to buy a new phone when the battery is no longer at peak performance. However, tech experts have revealed that battery pack sales have gone down, indicating that consumers opt to buy new phones instead because of its new innovations and features.

LG G6 Adds Google Assistant

Now LG G6 is trying to beef up its flagship device by adding the Google Assistant, which is the latest version of Google's voice-command technology. It will be the first non-Pixel phone to have access to Google chatbot-style interface and the usual array of voice commands like setting alarms, making searches or updating daily appointments, The Verge reported.

Adding a virtual assistant is the newest trend in many high-end phones like Bixby for Samsung Galaxy S8 and Siri for the iPhone. LG G6 is also riding on Google's technology, which is a more practical way for the struggling company instead of developing its own.
