Activision has launched a Double XP event for "Call of Duty." The special events will be available in both "Infinite Warfare" and "Modern Warfare Remastered."

The "Call of Duty" double XP event was announced this week on Twitter. The "Infinite Warfare" event, which will cover both regular XP and weapon XP, will start on Friday, Jan. 27 at 10 a.m. PT and end on Friday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. PT.

The "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered" Double XP event will also begin on Jan. 27 but will end more quickly than "Infinite Warfare." The former will wrap up on Monday, Jan. 30 at 10 a.m. PT, according to the game's official Twitter page.

The "Call of Duty" XP event comes a few days before the first "Infinite Warfare" expansion called "Sabotage." The "Sabotage" DLC rolls out on Jan. 31 for PlayStation 4 and will introduce new multiplayer maps and a Zombies content titled "Rave in the Redwoods."

Featuring Kevin Smith as himself and four leads from the Zombies in Spaceland map, "Rave in the Redwoods" is set in a 1990s forest camp. The new Zombies map of the upcoming "Call of Duty" expansion will also introduce a new character called The Slasher, who "kind of takes bits and pieces from all of these different characters from throughout the horror genre," according to Infinity Ward Project Director Lee Ross' interview with ComingSoon.

"Rave in the Redwoods" will feature the return of A.J. (Ike Barinholtz), Sally (Sasheer Zamata), Andre (Jay Pharoah) and Poindexter (Seth Green) and they will team up against The Slasher to live. Though these characters have already been introduced in Zombies in Spaceland, being tossed into the '90s will change their personalities to adjust to their new surroundings.

For instance, Green was originally known as a nerd but "Rave in the Redwoods" will turn him into a raver. Andre, on the other hand, will become a grunge rocker from being a rapper.

Aside from "Rave in the Redwoods," "Sabotage" will have four maps: Dominion, Noir, Renaissance and Neon, GameSpot listed. The Zombies content was largely based on classic slasher films such as "Halloween, Friday the 13th," and will reward players with pouches whenever they kill a zombie.

When these pouches are tossed into a fire, they will induce the character into a state where he/she can see things more clearly and vividly than before. Basically, the pouches can make the game's characters high.
