As expected, "La La Land" dominated the Oscar nominations this year with 14 nominations including Best Director, Best Actor and Best Picture. However, there were also some noticeable Oscar snubs that caught the attention of many moviegoers.

One of the most surprising Oscar snubs this year Sully, which was directed by veteran Clint Eastwood. The movie about a pilot putting the lives of dozens of passengers on his shoulder only got one Oscar nomination - Best Sound Editing. The most surprising of them all was the movie's star, Tom Hanks not getting his sixth Oscar nomination despite being a two-time Best Actor recipient according to Fox News.

For the animated part of Oscar snubs, "Finding Dory" certainly fits that bill as it was dubbed as Pixar's big project for last year. In a strange turn of events, the Academy favored having foreign films, "My Life as a Zucchini" and "The Red Turtle" into the list of nominations. Despite being one of the highest-grossing movies of the year at the box office, there can possibly be no reason why Finding Dory didn't make the cut as reported by Rolling Stone.

Nobody expected "Deadpool" to become one of this year's Oscar snubs but it surprisingly was. It turns out the foul-mouthed superhero flick was not a fit with the Oscar crowd. It even ignored the surprise "Deadpool" pulled off at the box office by becoming the highest grossing R-rated superhero flick of all time.

For those who are wondering how Oscar nominations are determined, it is actually one long process. For someone to get a nomination, it involves 6000 members of the Academy. These people will select among a long list of nominations then mail in who they think should be nominated. The process of totaling the official list of nominations will then take more than a thousand hours.
