The recent sixteenth entry of the role-playing video game Tale series entitled "Tales of Berseria" sticks to its old formula of giving real-time battle system to players. Its game encounters now take place in an open 3D space where players are free to move, attack, and block at its own pace.

According to reports, "Tales of Berseria" removes the Technical Points bar and replaces it with the Soul Gauge, where it dictates how long the player can chain together combat and spell artes, Game Spot reported. It does not change the flow of combat too much, but it adds fluidity to it.

It can be noted that Soul Gauge is a series of five dots that determine how many actions a character can take in battle. Player can track their special attacks or getting hit with certain enemy attacks since it will take dots away. Exploiting enemy weakness, however, puts them back, Kotaku reviewed.

The source emphasized that "Tales of Berseria" posed so much modification compared to the previous games. It pointed out that with this entry, a player is given the opportunity to steal souls from opponents by knocking them out or stunning them.

It also noted "Tale's" signature active combat system, the Linear Motion Battle System (LMBS) that is now more liberated leading players to roam freely about the field and rotate the camera around the action while in battle.

Another difference highlighted in the game is the exposure of mature story and characters. Reviews of its storyline pins to an emotional journey draped in darkness. Characters in the series are considered as the most compelling group of lovable and murderous rogues.

Each character also gains new skills and magical artes as they level up, which can be lined up via menus for one-button combos. Reviews added that "Tales of Berseria" is an epic adventure packed with mini-games to play, cosmetic items to collect, food to cook and treasures to uncover.
