"Banner Saga 3" is on its way thanks to the Kickstarter campaign that commenced recently. While Stoic Studios puts its own money to make the last game in the trilogy, they need $200,000 more for the game's "additional features". If they succeed with the campaign, will the game be a worthy, climactic conclusion?

Creator Reveals Ultimate Reason For Kickstarter Campaign Creation

John Watson, a co-founder of Stoic, reveals the reason why they had to launch the Kickstarter campaign. According to the guy, they simply just can't leave the story unfinished, Games Industry reported. The Viking culture-inspired game goes full circle to the Kickstarter campaign that launched the first one, by doing the same thing for the third and last entry of the franchise.

Watson also admits they neglected the community that put them in the market when they built "Banner Saga 2". That's because they were focusing on their work  to make the sequel better and it was a huge mistake.

They put a Kickstarter campaign for the first leg of the game asking for only $100,000. But the crowd responded with $720,000 instead. What was originally planned as a one year game became a franchise known as Banner Saga with a huge engaged audience.

But he said running a Kickstarter campaign was a fulltime job that none among his team members had time to do. So they decided to close the doors and use their own money for "Banner Saga 2". But when money stopped flowing, they instantly realized their mistake.

Now that they want to make "Banner Saga 3" more epic than its predecessors, including bringing Austin Wintory back to create the music, they will need all the money they can get.

Kickstarter Campaign Begins

Now the Kickstarter campaign for the final leg of the trilogy begins. Stoic Studios once more go back to the community that propelled their success and is asking for $200,000 for a game that lets players embark a journey beyond the wall, Game Spot reported.

The beautiful world of the Vikings will test a gamer's resolve with the epic battles against adversaries. Each decision a player makes will affect the direction of the entire journey, making the lives of the characters inside the game more significant.

If you pledge more than $20, you will receive a PC or Mac copy of "Banner Saga 3". A $5,000 pledge will make you an executive producer of the game. Moreover, if you pledge $20 more for every pledge level, you will receive copies of the first two games as a sign of Stoic Studios' gratitude.
