Mac users will now have the benefit of getting a better night sleep with Apple's recent macOS Sierra 10.12.4 beta 1 update. It is worth noting that this update is anchored on a study that finds eye strain and eye health problems when a user is exposed to too much blue light rays from computers.

Apple's macOS Sierra 10.12.4 brings the same Night Shift feature seen on iOS to the Mac for the first time, 9 to 5 Mac reported. It can be noted that overtime exposure to the blue of the light spectrum specifically for digital screens could cause serious long-term damage to one's eyes.

The Night Shift feature of macOS Sierra automatically adjusts the hue of the colors on the screen corresponding to the time of day. The source added that a softer yellow display will be transitioned from the blue light glare of the digital screen relaxing one's eyes and helping the user sleep well.

Mac users can now set a schedule to have their display colors slowly shift hues over time and displaying less blue light as night time approaches. Using the automatic schedule, the display will return to its normal colors by the morning.

Reports added that the recent update include an updated PDFKit APIs for better displaying of PDFs in the apps that use the framework. Siri is also getting smarter as it now knows about statistics and data from the Indian Premier League and International Cricket Council. It will give out cricket scores, schedules and player rosters.

It can be recalled that Apple has just recently released macOS Sierra 10.12.3, just a day before macOS Sierra 10.12.4 update was released. The former brings bugfix update and couple of fixes for the graphic chipset for MacBook Pro, Tech Crunch reported. The update also fixes Safari icon fetching bug that has affected its battery life.

Meanwhile, Apple announced that for now macOS Sierra 10.12.4 beta is available for download to developers only through the Apple Developer Center or the software update mechanism in the Mac App Store. It is however expected that a public beta will be available later this week.
