US-based network HBO has not yet finished the number of episodes of the 8th season of the very popular fantasy show "Game of Thrones", but rumors are swirling that HBO is already considering making a spin-off. The latest report said that HBO has not yet come to a decision regarding the number of episodes and the show producers are already exploring the possibility of having a spin-off.

According to BuddyTV, HBO wants to see the series continue past its expiration date. Game of Thrones, without a doubt, is still a cash cow for HBO and there is a lot of great opportunity waiting for HBO to create new stories in the same universe.

HBO are said to be keen on the spinoff story because of the great success the widely popular fantasy show has had in the past few months.

HBO is well-known in the industry for creating shows and TV series that are a step above what other rival cable networks are offering in the market. With this approach, HBO is not likely to pursue a True Detective Season 2 repeat and might start looking for alternatives.

HBO will only move forward with a spinoff project if this could bring lots of opportunity to the network, in short, a real winner. Luckily, HBO has some time to figure it out what the best things to do. 

Prequel Possible For Game of Thrones

There's a big possibility that HBO, according to the UK-based publication The Independent, might go with the spinoff option. HBO representatives have previously confirmed reports that a spinoff looks extremely likely.

But for HBO programming president Casey Bloys, having a prequel is probably the best decision for now. The HBO TV director also added that they are still analyzing the possibility of having a prequel or spinoff. B

loys also said that, at this time, they don't have any script and they are still very far from giving the green light. But, still, the HBO TV director believe that "Game of Thrones" would be a very big universe.
