Many fans are rejoicing now that "Samurai Jack" is back on Toonami. The original series ran for four seasons (2001 to 2004) and featured the time-traveling samurai prince as he fought against Aku, the shape-shifting demon. Let's look back at how Jack was the last time we saw him on the small screen.

"Samurai Jack": why was he in despair?

The series ended in 2004 without seemingly any closure for the time displaced Jack, who remained trapped in a distant future ruled by Aku. According to Nerdist, While the creators did not divulge many details for season 5, fans are anticipating that the new season will start with a scene, several years after the last episode. It's was also suggested that Jack is a bit lost to despair after spending so much time of trying to go back to the past.

Meanwhile Adult Swim, in one of its nightly run, played a special social media bump where it answered fans' questions. One of the fans asked if the new season for "Samurai Jack" was still a go and Adult Swim answered with the series' premiere date. Many fans were surprised but your guess is as good as ours, they are not complaining.

The announcement of Jack's return made the topic trend on Facebook, much to Toonami's elation.

One of the cast members who will be returning to the 10-episode season include Phil LaMarr, who originally voiced the show's titular character. While LaMarr was initially unable to comment on his involvement with the show's fifth season, the actor was later able to do so following an appearance at AwesomeCon 2016.
