The millennials - those who are born after 1980's are said to be the best educated generation in the history of the United States, according to a 2014 Pew Research report. This is because more than one-third have earned a bachelor's degree compared to one out of four adults from previous generations, with the help of technology and the advent of the internet.

In order to deal with the constantly rising cost of higher education, colleges and universities have turned to technology. A lot of these institutions are now offering online classes, bachelor's degrees and even master's degrees over the internet. But many still question the value of an online degree compared to the traditional degree, and while yes, there are certain advantages and disadvantages that come along with taking an online degree, companies and employers tend to be more concerned about the quality of education and reputation of the educational institutions.

Online education is actually an excellent way for adults to continue with their studies, according to Education Corner. This is because most of the time, they do not have the luxury of time anymore to continue college because of other responsibilities. But if they are enrolled to online programs, they can continue and complete their education anytime, anywhere.

Online degree programs are able to provide students with broad, practical and up to date understanding and knowledge of certain industries they want to be part of, according to It Career Finder, and these graduates are just as competitive as the graduates from traditional programs.

Traditional programs used to be highly regarded than online degrees but this is not the case anymore because they make sure that students learn the most important concepts and methods that are highly appropriate and applicable in their work environment, the only key is finding legitimate accredited colleges and universities.
