Vantage College has closed its locations across El Paso and Texas, specifically on George Dieter Drive and Butterfield Trail Boulevard. This comes after it was reviewed by the Department of Education.

Local source KFOX14 reported that Vantage College has closed after the Department of Education conducted a review of the school. The review caused the federal student aid funds to stop coming in.

The college was put on a reimbursement system which led to funds being delayed for 45 days. Apparently, the school is no longer able to support its operations with the lack of funds.

The Department of Education confirmed that school officials contacted them to announce its plans to close due to financial difficulties. However, no date was provided.

Students at Vantage College were left in the dark about the closure. One student, Beatriz Lopez from the medical assistant program, said that her teacher acted as if nothing was amiss during class on Wednesday.

Lopez admitted that several of her classmates are at registering for classes at Pima Medical Institute. She, on the other hand, registered at El Paso Community College.

Vantage has identified other institutions with the same programs. These schools may be able to provide credit for coursework completed at the closed school.

In its official website, Vantage College announced that it will no longer be able to continue with classes and that it has closed on Thursday, Jan. 19. The school admitted that they have not been able to find other options to cover the financial difficulties caused by the lack of federal aid.

The school also confirmed that it will be working to maintain academic and financial aid records for the students. They are willing to assist former students by providing any information that will be needed by other institutions for a smooth transition.

Former Vantage College students can attend an information session at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 20, hosted by Virginia College at Austin. An update will be provided to San Antonio and El Paso students next week.
