Just in 2016, the new Nvidia Shield Portable console's speculations were widespread. Wherein, the Nvidia Shield Portable was claimed to compete with Nintendo Switch. Nevertheless, the newly uncovered Federal Communications Commission filings have given game enthusiasts a first look at what a new version of the flip-up portable console could look like.

It was revealed that Nvidia's filing for the Nvidia Shield Portable gaming console was submitted to FCC on July 15, 2016. It seems that right after their filing for approval, the Santa Clara, California based tech giant has decided to cancel the product, according to The Verge.

Nonetheless, some tech experts exposed that a newly FCC filing has given the public an idea of what the new version of the Nvidia Shield Portable console looks like. Due to a 180-day confidentiality request from the tech company, the information was only revealed this year, Tech Plz reported.

With the FCC leaks, the new NVIDIA Shield Portable console has the same 5-inch display panel that features a new control module, with a capacity touch buttons. The appearance of the new NVIDIA Shield Portable console would be smaller and thinner compared to the previous version.

The new NVIDIA Shield Portable console reportedly will have a new 802.11AC 5GHz Wi-Fi radio, and a low energy Bluetooth chip. Port selections would have included an HDMI port, a headphone port, a USB Type-C port and a micro SD card slot.

In spite of that, Nintendo has officially announced that the Nintendo Switch gaming system is coming out on the market. The gaming system utilizes a custom processor, Tegra chipset, same as what NVIDIA's Shield Portable console is actually using.

For Nvidia, the device was first released in 2013, and for the past years of distributing various gadgets in the NVIDIA Shield brand, the gaming console has never received any update.
