Google made fans ecstatic and overly surprised when it dropped $30 off the usual price of its headset Daydream View VR, now it only costs $49. Analysts projected that Google may not be seeing too much demand for its Daydream View VR because it will work only with a few phones right now.

The headset only works with Google's Pixel and Pixel XL, and Motorola's Moto Z series, with Huawei's Mate 9 Pro, ZTE's Axon 7, and Asus' Zenfone AR, The Verge reported. The discount though is considered as the first major deal fans have seen for the Daydream View.

According to the report, the headset is one of the best solutions for mobile VR today. It is a must have device for someone who wants to get started in the world of virtual reality. Unlike Samsung Gear VR's on-headset buttons for controls, Google Daydream View VR emphasizes a tiny remote that acts as an essential navigation and gameplay wand.

As for design and comfort, the VR headset is stylish looking and sports the same size and shape as an average mobile VR headset but light leaks in from the sides when the lights are turned off. Nevertheless, it is one of the most well-reviewed VR device.

Since there are only a limited number of people who own smartphones with DaydreamView VR compatibility, many are wondering why Google did not follow Samsung's tactic of giving away the Gear VR with the purchase of a flagship device, Trusted Reviews reported. Reviewers noted that it would have served well the game plan of giving away Daydream View VR in exchanged for Pixel phone purchases.

Not only will the scheme boost sales but also increase new owners of the VR platform. Reports added that the sale will run until Feb. 25 with three VR headset colors. The Mobile World Congress 2017, which will take place in Barcelona on Feb. 26 is projected to reveal more Daydream-ready Android devices.
