Android 7 Nougat for Xiaomi Handsets

Selected Xiaomi handsets have been reportedly started receiving Android 7 Nougat this week according to several Chinese websites such as Weibo and GizmoChina. The screenshot of Xiaomi Mi 5 that runs Nougat has been posted in the account of RanGer Wind in Weibo that has further strengthen the speculation according to The Indian Express.

In relative to that, Xiaomi has recently announced that there are only six smartphones that will received the Android 7 Nougat update for the meantime. The list include Xiaomi Mi Note, Xiaomi Mi 4s, Xiaomi Mi 4c for the first phase and Xiaomi Mi Max, Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus and Xiaomi Mi Note 2 for the second phase.

Accordingly, the MIUI Android 7 Nougat beta testing for the six mentioned smartphones is already on-going but Xiaomi did not mention any specific date for the rollout. As of the moment, Xiaomi Mi 5 is the only device has received the Nougat update, others Xiaomi devices owners are advice to keep on waiting for this week, Gadgets NDTV reported.

Android 7 Nougat update is expected to bring new features such as App Shortcuts, Google's Image Keyboard, multi-window support, longer battery life, additional emojis and many more. On the other hand, Xiaomi did not mentioned about the Android 7 Nougat update for the Redmi series however speculations suggest that the rollout is likely to take place within the first quarter of 2017. Other major players in the industry such as LG, Sony and Motorola have reportedly rolled out Android 7 Nougat to their selected smartphones.
