When it was announced that Nintendo Switch will have "Splatoon 2" fans expected the game to be a port from its Wii U version. However, it turns out that the game is actually a full pledged sequel to the game. Also, reviews claim that there are no significant changes to the new game's gameplay compared to its predecessor.

Improved but the same

Playing "Splatoon" in Wii U requires the player to rely only on the combined touch- and button-based control system in the console, but with the "Splatoon 2" Switch version some moves now have shortcuts when using the controllers, Digital Trends reported. But the gameplay feels basically the same, according to reviews. This makes the difference between the novices and the veterans very obvious.

Features on Switch

One of the noticeable new feature in the "Splatoon 2" for Nintendo Switch is the Splat Duellies, which allows players to consume ink to do sideways dash by simply pushing the jump button, VG247 reported. Besides these pistols, there are a few new weapons and abilities featured in this sequel.

One of the new ability gives the player the capacity to shoot out into the sky to rain terror over the opponents. Another new ability is a devastating mortar strike.

Besides weapons and abilities, there are also new hairstyles and clothing. There are also new special attacks and new maps. Veteran players who had a lot of fun with all the extra content in the original "Splatoon" will find the new game as entertaining.

Ultimately, some of the best things about the game is it has impressive "Splatoon" mechanics, its Gyro-based aiming is very convenient for the Pro Controllers, it has fun new weapons, and gamers can now play "Splatoon" on the go. It major disadvantages is that it doesn't really feel like a sequel, and newbies will find it hard to catch up with veteran "Splatoon" gamers.
