A few of Sony Xperia handsets will be receiving Android Nougat update soon.

Android Nougat is coming soon to Xperia Z5, Z4 and Z3+

PTCRB has given Nougat certification to Xperia Z4, Z5 and Z3+. For those still unfamiliar with the PTCRB, it is a cellular certification forum in North America. Based on the information obtained from 7layers, the certification means a device has met the cellular network standards without any risk of being blocked by operators in the region.

The exact schedule for Nougat release hasn't been reported yet but it should be imminent - at least weeks away. The update will arrive via OTA or users can check the notification on the device.

Other Sony handsets that will be getting Android Nougat include Xperia Z5 Compact, Z5 Premium, Xperia XA, and XA Ultra.

Sony Xperia Z5 is a Snapdragon 810-powered smartphone with 3 GB of RAM on board. The storage boasts 32 GB of space with optics department getting 23 MP rear camera and 5.1 MP front-facing camera.

What features to expect?

Aside from the split-screen mode that the Nougat brings, Sony has made a few tweaks that enables the handsets to support manual shutter speed control including ISO control. The battery gets more efficient as well. There have been reports about Sony's collaboration with Google in bringing Google Now in the device's home screen, according to Android Headlines.

Android Nougat update for other Sony smartphones

It's been reported that the other devices such as Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact, Z1 series and Z Ultra won't be eligible to receive the Nougat update due to the older series of processor. Sony Xperia Beta Program was rolled out for Xperia X Performance awhile ago and the company has released the stable version to public, according to Neurogadget.
