Kantar Worldpanel ComTech released new data showing the sale of Apple's new iPhone models consistently growing in more regions compared to Android phones, which dropped in sales in the holiday season. It seems like having the same design for its new phone didn't hinder Apple from selling more of its new iPhone models.

According to the leading market group the new iPhone models experienced a year-over-year growth in six out of the ten markets covered in the report, BGR reported. On the other hand, Android's smartphone sales only increased in four out of those ten markets in Kantar's report.

The report, which covered three months ending in November, revealed that iPhone 6S, iPhone 7, and iPhone 7 Plus were the best-selling smartphones in the United States in that period. The devices account for 31.3 percent of the smartphone market in the US, while Samsung's Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge only covered 28.9 percent of the sales in the smartphone market, according to Kantar's report.

Apple's smartphone market share in the US went up 6.4 percent on-year to 43.5 percent from September to November. Android market, on the other hand, went down 5.1 percent to 55.3 percent.

Results of Android sales

Besides the Unites States, Android sales also went down in France and Great Britain, during the period covered in Kantar's report, PC Mag reported. It is the sixth consecutive time that Android has experienced a drop in sales. One example is how Google's mobile OS saw a decline in smartphone sales to accounting only 55.3 percent of the market from 2015's 60.4 percent.

The 28.9 percent market share of Samsung's flagship smartphones may be brought by the exploding battery controversy. However, Apple's move on iPhone 7 of sticking with its predecessors design didn't bring that much negative effect. Verizon is one of the major companies that helped sell Apple and Samsung phones in America.
