For the undergraduates, going to college represents the chance to be away or live away from home, and when this happens, you will definitely need a place to stay. However, you need to make a decision on whether you will be living on or off campus.

Many college students have preferred to move to off-campus apartments because of the drawbacks they find in living in the university dorms like their lack of privacy as well as limited space. Bathrooms are also usually communal which means that you have to get up early or you'll be late for school.

And while there are advantages in living on campus, there are also pros and cons to off-campus rentals that you might want to consider.

On the pros:

With off-campus rentals, you will not have to worry so much about the control over your living space especially when you are living alone, according to Education Corner. If ever you will get to share your space, you get to choose who your roommate is going to be so you won't have to really worry about dealing with new people. You own space that also separates you from the school can make school a little less overwhelming.

On the cons:

According to USA Today College, the travel time from your apartment to your school can be a bit time consuming especially when you are already running late, so you have to make sure you leave at least an hour before the classes start. You might also not get enough time to get back home in between classes if you need to, which is why you need to make sure you bring everything you need for all your classes throughout the day. Living off campus also means that you have to take care of your bills and grocery shopping and that could take some of your time intended for studying or leisure.
