Many are still searching their dream job. Such is the case of Jess Ratty who used to be a 16-year-old waitress and transitioned to a business owner and senior executive. She said that she would not have jumped to her current state if not for her online network. Jess Ratty believes anyone can create their own career opportunity if they learn how to promote themselves professionally online, according to a report in BBC News.

Read on and consider the online career advice on how how the land the job that you desire.

Be active in LinkedIn

Jesse Ratty was recruited by Crowdfunder through LinkedIn. LinkedIn searches for passive candidates. These candidates are people who usually are not looking for work. LinkedIn can assist in finding jobs.

However, LinkedIn only works properly when one has a complete profile.

One should have a professional photo with an updated employment section. Career accomplishments must be highlighted. List of connections must be regularly updated, according to CIO.

Showcase specialization

A candidate must show what he is good at. However, it is not recommended to present oneself to be excellent in everything. This presentation can confuse potential recruiters. Strengths must be mapped out together with professional interests. Then, opportunities can be a combination of this two.

Get certified

Getting certified can make one stand out from peers. Thus, if one desires to be part of a specific industry, one should obtain a certification. If one desires to be an expert in the digital marketing industry, one can obtain a certified digital marketing course, according to Digital Marketing Institute.

Participate in community events

It would be easier to find a job if one dedicates some of one's time helping others. A 2015 study in the Journal of Career Assessment published a study regarding individuals who are unemployed and are in their twenties. The study has found out that those who volunteered had a job after six months of participating in community events.

Doing these steps can help one land one's dream job.
