The BAFTA 2017 nominations have been announced and "La La Land" has 11 nominations after winning all the awards they were nominated for at the Golden Globes. The entire ceremony will take place on Feb. 12 at the Royal Albert Hall.

According to Yahoo, "Moonlight" was seen as the biggest threat to "La La Land" but it garnered only four Bafta 2017 nominations. The closest competitors to "La La Land" were sci-fi "Arrival" and "Nocturnal Animals", two movies that had nine nominations each. Three movies were able to pick up five nominations each and they are "Fantastic Beasts", "Where to Find Them" and "I, Daniel Blake."

According to the Guardian, "Manchester by the Sea" surprised nobody when it collected six Bafta 2017 nominations. The drama directed by Kenneth Lonergan gained the praise of critics for the seriousness of the movie. "Lion", directed by Garth Davis", is an excellent movie that deservingly got five nominations as it is one powerful drama about an Indian boy who slept overnight in a stationary train that ended up taking him across the country. He would end up in a city where he can't explain to the people he met where he really lived.

The nominations were revealed by "Game of Thrones" star Sophie Turner and "Preacher" actor Dominic Cooper. Despite all the numerous nominations from the well-deserving movies, there were also some noticeable snubs. Everyone was surprised at how Martin Scorsese's "Silence" was not able to garner any nomination. It was also surprising how "American Honey," starring Shia LeBouf, got only one nomination because he was able to portray a character who resembles the next president of the United States.

Check out this interview with Cuba Gooding Jr., who starred in "The People vs O.J. Simpson" at the 2017 BAFTA tea party the day before the nominations were revealed. The Academy Award winner gives his thoughts on the upcoming awards night:
