It is a fact of life that there will always be someone better than you. However, not because someone is better, it doesn't mean that you cannot win. Instead of trying to compete using the 'standards' they are using, you can compete using the resources and talents you have in order to win. In terms of business, you can also compete with the big companies even if you are just a startup. Here are some tips and strategies how you can compete with Goliaths and win.

Specialize in something

Someone is always better but each one of us is unique. Beating someone in their own game will leave you frustrated and disappointed. There is also the possibility that you will lose your self-control. On the other hand, there is no rule that says you cannot design your own game. Find what you are good at and hone that skill. Focus on it and before long, you will become an expert in that.

For example, one businessman took the time to personally know his customers and their stories. By doing this, he was able to provide a more personalized service which his customers love. He was also able to create a loyal customer base who became his 'marketing' arm through their word-of-mouth recommendation.

Deal with integrity

Integrity is defined as doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do even if it is unpopular. Whether you are a big or small company, customers want a company they can trust. If you want to thrive, you have to be real and authentic.

Neve put quality at the back door

The quality you provide your customers can pull you up or bring you down. Give them low-quality service and products and you will find them not making a repeat. Worse, they will tag you to everyone they know and before you knew it, you're closing down. On the other hand, give them high-quality service and products and they become your cheerleaders.
