HTC released an official statement that disproves the various rumors surrounding the release of HTC Vive's wireless sequel at CES 2017. Nonetheless, HTC claimed that it will not be announcing the HTC Vive 2 during the event.

The mobile phone network company claimed that there is no truth to any of the rumors claiming that the launch of HTC Vive 2 VR headset will be during the CES 2017. The Taiwanese manufacturer's statement then went on to say that the HTC company is more interested in making a stronger system for both the current and future Vive VR headset users, according to Game Rant.

What this basically means is that the Taiwanese manufacturer is still more inclined to focus on its existing VR headset products first. That might prove to be disappointing among tech enthusiasts waiting for more technological improvements. In spite of that, those who already own the HTC Vive are more or less satisfied that their $800 headset will remain pertinent for a longer period of time.

Meanwhile, the HTC Vive VR headset is getting a necessary upgrade in the form of HTC's TPCast. About a month ago, the Taiwanese manufacturer has announced a peripheral called TPCast, which would provide a wireless functionality to the HTC Vive VR headset. This feature was designed and created by a startup within the company's Vice X accelerator program, and while the feature is still new, it has been said that it does work successfully, The Verge reported.

One of the best things about the TPCast is that the device is so much lighter than the original Vive headset. Reasonably, the original HTC Vive VR headset was connected to a various cables and was then being dragged down. But, the wireless feature eliminates all these unnecessary things, thereby removing a big chunk of weight.
