It appears that Samsung is rolling out the new Android Security Patch dated December 1st to Galaxy Note 5 users in India. Nevertheless, the Android Security Patch update doesn't come along with the latest Android Nougat update to the 2015 flagship, but it only brings a number of bug fixes and security improvements.

Perhaps, this is the South Korean tech giant's way of telling the Galaxy Note 5 users to gear up for the new Nougat update. The tech company is expected to roll out the update to Galaxy Note 5 right after it's done with doing the same for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge smartphones. Samsung made it known that it will be working hard to ensure that Galaxy S7 users start receiving the new operating system this January 2017.

As for now, the Galaxy Note 5 owners must ensure that they have downloaded and installed the December monthly security update. The over-the-air programming (OTA) update weighs about 295MB, and the Android Security Patch can only be acquired for those in India. The OTA is expected to be available in other countries as well, Sam Mobile reported.

On the other hand, the other post of Sam Mobile claimed that select Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge owners have started receiving the Android 7.0 Nougat update. The public update is scheduled for January and Samsung has started to soak tests before the final run.

Wherein, the South Korean tech monster ended the Galaxy Beta program in late December 2016 after releasing three beta versions of the Nougat update to users who enrolled for the program. Some Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge users have claimed that they have received the update along with the January Android security patch.

The update received by the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge users has a build number G935FXXU1DPLR. This update is for the Android 7.0 Nougat and not the latest Android 7.1.1 version.
