"Game of Thrones" season 7 will be three episodes shorter compared to its previous seasons. While some fans got surprised upon hearing the news, others look at it differently and expect a much bigger and much better storylines. Some even speculate that the shorter season could be because the long-running show is coming to an end.

The previous seasons had ten episodes each while the upcoming season 7 will only have seven episodes. The production team will need to spend more time in making each episode, which means something big is coming to "Game of Thrones: Season 7." Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont) told Radio Times that he thinks that the size and scale of the set pieces, the world that is being created is just getting more and more extraordinary that they feel they need more time to shoot.

Another possible reason for a shorter episode is that the producers wouldn't want to cut corners. They might want to give fans the most extraordinary of shows. For others, this could probably mean more dragons, white walkers and out-of-this-world explosions, Metro reported.

One final reason for a shortened season could also be that the "Game of Thrones" is nearing its end. Glen suggested during the same interview that viewers will feel the drama in the upcoming season is moving towards its end game. More characters are overlapping so they are seeing each other a lot, IGN reported.

The seventh season of the "Game of Thrones" have started the production back in September and is said to wrap up this coming February and is expected to start airing in Summer of 2017. "Game of Thrones" fans are surely getting more excited but they have to wait until summer to see how big the season 7 is.
