Good news is coming for workout-savvy people after FitBit released a firmware update on its FitBit Charge 2, adding 11 new functions and improvements on the fitness tracker device.

According to Phone Arena, the said enhancements include Workout Pause Function, Guided Breathing Vibration Cues, a Do Not Disturb option, a more dynamic Heart Rate Zone Display, battery life percentage shown on the display, and a new clock face.

One of the most anticipated features in the fitness tracker is the Workout Pause ability. Now, customers can simply put their workouts on breaks, then resuming it anytime they want. During a multi-sport mode, users can view the improved heart rate visualization, which shows the heart rate zones.

The existing on-display battery indicator allows users to view the battery life of the device through an application. Now, users can be notified through the FitBit Charge's screen if the device is running out of battery.

On another note, the improved FitBit Charge will be equipped with "stocking stuffers," consisting of more intuitive interval notifications, longer-lasting workout recaps, smarter notifications, support for showing "unknown" caller IDs, and a switch in how messages are displayed, YIBADA reported.

To update into the Fitbit Charge 2, users should install the Fitbit app on their Android or iOS device. Then, users should tap the pink arrow next to the wearable's name. Follow the on-screen prompts and keep the tracker and mobile device near each other.

The FitBit Charge 2 is measured at 21.45 mm while its weight is dependent on the user's strap choice. The device can last up to 5 days, and is available in its Classic Band model in Black, Plum, Blue and Teal variants. The device is pegged at a price of $149.95, €159.95, and £129.99.

Fitbit also recently acquired smartwatch maker Pebble for an estimated $40 million. This new ownership will come with Pebble's smartwatch OS, apps and valuable software engineers and testers.

As of today, Fitbit manufactures five activity tracker wristbands, the Fitbit Flex 2, Alta, Charge 2, Surge, and Blaze. It also offers two clip-on activity trackers, namely the Fitbit Zip and One.
