The competition in streaming services gets even tougher. And before 2016 finally ends, Hulu just struck a major Disney deal to stream more than 50 titles from the entertainment and movie outfit.

According to Hulu, its multi-year deal with The Walt Disney Studios means that their company will have "exclusive subscription video-on-demand rights to a collection of hit movies and family favorites from Disney's library of blockbuster films."

Hulu adds that it will be the only authorized source for select Disney movies for streaming within a subscription service deal to its customers. Some of the titles will be available for Hulu's streaming offers in the coming months. Meanwhile, early titles have started streaming at Hulu through the Disney Licensing Deal. They are: "Hercules," "Lilo & Stitch," "Mulan," "Pocahontas," "Tarzan," and "The Nightmare Before Christmas," Tech Crunch reported.

Other movie contents coming up to Hulu as part of the exclusive Disney deal are the following:

Con Air, Step Up, Gone in 60 Seconds, Pearl Harbor, Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, The Mighty Ducks plus Disney blockbusters good for family bonding and friends visit to enjoy are Muppet Treasure Island, The Emperor's New Groove and The Princess and the Frog.

No New Blockbuster For Hulu

Meanwhile, this Hulu-Disney deal is considered as a lack-luster by early critics. Variety noted that none of these movies are new. Considering that its major competitor, Netflix has scored a multi-year deal with Disney years earlier. The 2012 Netflix deal with Disney is getting the new releases from the Mickey Mouse company through exclusive basis.

The price of the Disney deal was kept in private since the company owns 30 percent of Hulu, together with other owners like Comcast, News Corporation and Time Warner. Hulu also plans to venture in live TV next year. It plans to launch a TV streaming service with live feeds coming from networks like ABC, ESPN, Fox, FX and other major TV stations in 2017.
