Meet PJ9, the name of LG's Levitating Portable Speaker. And like its namesake, this device indeed levitates. And with this, LG hopes to be the trailblazer to a new breed of devices - flying tech gadgets you commonly use at home.

LG has masterfully created buzz by teasing some of its new products before the CES 2017 starts next week. One of those products is the PJ9 Bluetooth speakers with floating capabilities. LG said that powerful electromagnets are what causes the speaker to float in mid-air.

As seen in the image, the speaker does really float without any support. Aside from this, the speaker also has some impressive features. According to LG, the PG9 levitating speaker has a 10-hour battery life if fully charged. When the battery is depleted, the speaker carefully and silently 'lands' on its dock without any human interaction. Talk about artificial intelligence.

The PJ9 is also equipped with multipoint technology which means it can connect to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously. In addition to this, it is also IPX7 compliant making it withstand any type of weather. PJ9, therefore, can be used in both indoor and outdoor setting. It can even withstand immersion of up to one meter deep for 30 minutes.

Soundwise, it is equipped with a 360-degree omnidirectional speaker design yielding rich bass sounds and crisp trebles. According to its official press release, the speaker uses Dual Passive Radiator technology which gives its 'flush mid-range' sound.

Despite all these, there are still skeptics saying the product is just purely aesthetics with no real juice in them. LG, however, invites everyone to visit their booth during the CES 2017 event and try the other products in their wireless line.

The CES is a week-long event and will run from January 2 to January 8 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
