New ASUS ChromeBook 'monster' specs have been leaked by a few sources and it is currently rumored as an affordable alternative to ChromeBook Pixel.

New ASUS ChromeBook: A Successor of Flip?

After a few leaks, the new ASUS ChromeBook is said to take on ChromeBook Pixel.

The 12.5-inch display of a laptop codenamed ASUS C302CA, packs 4GB RAM on board with 64 GB of built-in storage and Intel Core m3 processor. ChromeUnboxed was the first to find out the listing at Newegg.

In the product description, which is now removed, it read a touchscreen that can be flipped around, making it a 2-in-1 convertible device, according to The Verge. The listing also mentioned an affordable $499 price tag

It goes on to say that the new ASUS laptop supports USB C for charging and has a dedicated slot for memory expansion. These two features are absent in the Flip. As far as the design is concerned, the new ASUS ChromeBook will have all-metal body - bigger but thinner than the Flip.

New ASUS ChromeBook to Take on Surface Pro 4 and ChromeBook Pixel?

The high-end Google's ChromeBook comes with Chrome-OS out of the box, just like the alleged new ASUS ChromeBook. The new convertible laptop is specced with high-end hardware that it could be on par with the Pixel. For instance, it sports Intel Core m3 instead of Rockchip like the one in Flip.

And based on how the design was described in the listing, it quickly reminds us of Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 (minus the Pen), a successful hybrid laptop line that's currently rumored to have a successor.

When will ASUS C302CA 2-in-1 convertible ChromeBook be released?

Several reports point toward the CES 2017 event which will take place in Las Vegas from Jan. 5 to 8.
