The zombie drama that never ends might actually have its end. "The Walking Dead" is winning over the TV rating game amid big competition with shows like "The Big Bang Theory" and "Game of Thrones". But TWD fans worry if the beloved zombie series might actually have its series finale.

"The Walking Dead" was first introduced at AMC, and that phrase cited by its writer and creator Robert Kirkman apparently remains true after seven long years in mainstream TV. However, like every great show, "The Walking Dead" will come to its end.

But "The Walking Dead" fans may rejoice because the series is far from over due to its popularity and being No. 1 show among adults 18-49 in 2016, and placing at the Top 5 in total viewers, Screener reported. The walker series dominates both the 18-49 and viewer lists below and becoming one of Broadcast TV's biggest assets. Moreover, "The Walking Dead" is the only cable show that lands in the Top 20 in viewers.

In fact, the "The Walking Dead" franchise averages about 20 episodes in a single season. Its comic origin just had its #160 Issue and "The Walking Dead" TV adaptation requires about three more seasons which would let the comic to publish at least another 36 issues. According to Comic Book, the show's ratings must be maintained for the network to continue the adaptation of Kirkman's graphic walker novels.

If the current decline in "The Walking Dead" Season 7 freaks out the fans, they should know that the show is still dominating the Sunday nights and cable ratings in general. Season 7 is forecasted to hit double digit scores by the time it comes to total seasons.
