Nintendo made it known that the eleventh main series entry in the Dragon Quest series, "Dragon Quest XI," will be available on Nintendo Switch in 2017. Nevertheless, the video game company's confirmation applies to Japan only, wherein no Western release date has been announced.

The "Dragon Quest XI" news came from a blog post on Nintendo's official website, as the post reads, it should be noted that the "Dragon Quest XI" is also planned to roll out on Nintendo Switch.

Since the recent success of "Dragon Quest VII" and "Dragon Quest Builders," Square Enix has committed to launch the Dragon Quest games in the West. Game series producer Noriyoshi Fujimoto stated in an interview that 2016 marks the Dragon Quest series' 30th anniversary. The series is not as well known in the West as the company would like.

Fujimoto also said that if game enthusiasts were to discover the video game series now, those gamers may be surprised at the sheer breadth of the universe. Nonetheless, gamers would also have an instant access to something that has taken the video game company 30 years to build.

On the other hand, Square Enix shared the latest update on the eleventh main series entry with some details and screenshots on the "Dragon Quest XI" protagonist, as well as his partner Camus and the world that the gamers will journey in the upcoming RPG. The "Dragon Quest XI" protagonist (which will portrayed by the gamer) is a young man who lives in the calm village of Ishi, and began a coming-of-age ceremony when he turned 16, according to Gematsu.

On the PlayStation 4, gamers will see vast, beautiful fields full of flowers, monsters depicted splendidly and flowing waterfalls. Also, Square Enix pitched in the livelihood of townsfolk in detail as well, according to Siliconera.

"Dragon Quest XI" is slated to roll out on March 2017 in Japan for the Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
