The Nintendo Switch console has been on the receiving end of all sorts of spec speculation. Finally, new details have surfaced to put to rest to some theories about what's under the Nintendo Switch's hood.

The game technology review website, Digital Foundry, did a breakdown of the Nintendo Switch specs based on a leaked devkit documentation sheet. The documentation sheet supposedly comes directly from Nintendo, which reveals the working development specifications for its upcoming gaming system. The devkit specs are not always final specs, but they are usually safe specs so that game developers can build first wave games that are properly optimized for the gaming system and run appropriately right out of the box, Eurogamer reported.

Digital Foundry claimed that the spec sheet for the documentation of Nintendo Switch revealed that the gaming system has a CPU clock speed of 1GHz whether the console is docked or not. The memory controller for the RAM sprints at up to 1600MHz docked or undocked. However, when undocked, a person can squeeze more battery life out of the console by cutting out some of the hertz to 1331MHz.

On the other hand, the Kyoto, Japan based tech company could be working on a VR headset for the Nintendo Switch console. Nintendo has filed a patent for a peripheral that utilizes a removable display and a pair of lenses. It appears the feature will be used in conjunction with the Nintendo Switch when it is undocked, according to The Virtual Report.

The patent filed by Nintendo also describes the straps that keep the gadget attached to the user's head. The device would therefore operate in much the same way as a Google Daydream or a Gear VR. In addition, Nintendo president Tatusmi Kimishima has previously claimed that they have a lot of interest in VR.

Nintendo Switch console is slated to roll out in March 2017.
