After a two-week delay, the Android 7.1.1 finally arrives in Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P on the Android Beta program. However, loyal Nexus customers are complaining why Google seems to set them aside with the delay and an update that does not have the Google Assistant or the Pixel Launcher.

The Android Nougat 7.1.1 was posted by Google last Dec. 5, but while it was rolling out on Pixel devices, Nexus owners were left waiting for two whole weeks before notifications prompted that the final Android 7.1.1 is now available. Google has not offered an explanation to what caused the delay, though T-Mobile is also only rolling out the update on the HTC-Manufactured Google Nexus 9, according to GSMArena.

The latest update is not much different from the second developers preview shown last Nov. 22 for the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9 and Pixel C. Moreover, Google has opted to have two different versions of the Android 7.1.1, which are the the 65.1MB and the 26MB.

For those who have not yet received the OTA notification, follow these simple steps: Go to Settings > About Phone > System Update > Check for update. Once the OTA has been pulled and the Android 7.1.1 downloaded, the system will reboot twice with the progress of the update shown in dots under the screen that says "Installing system update."

It will only take a minute to download the Android 7.1.1, which brings to Nexus 5x and Nexus 6P users the app shortcuts, new emojis and the image keyboard support. The latter is showcased prominently in GBoard, the Google keyboard replacement, 9to5Google reported.

However, loyal Nexus customers are not too happy about the different versions especially those who received the 26MB update of the Android 7.1.1. Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P users have expressed dismay on the lack of two important features, namely, the Google Assistant and Pixel Launcher.
