In the "X-Men" movies, Wolverine and Deadpool were never the best of friends. The witty-mouthed Deadpool always got in the nerves of the sometimes-recluse Wolverine. Their bickering somewhat continued even in the first "Deadpool" film, where fourth wall-breaking Wade Wilson made jokes about Wolverine. The big question on every fans' mind is whether Hugh Jackman will make a cameo appearance in "Deadpool 2" as wolverine.

During promotions for "Eddie the Eagle," Yahoo asked Jackman about his thoughts on "Deadpool" and whether he would be interested to participate in the movie.

"I've never thought about it till now, but doing something with Ryan - he's awesome - that's always attractive to me. But I think you've probably got several other people lined up to play [Wolverine]... probably you," Jackman pointed at his "Eddie the Eagle" co-star Taron Egerton, who replied that he doesn't quite have the facial hair for it.

Jackman commented that the movie is brilliant and that he loves "Deadpool" star Ryan Reynolds. However, when asked if Wolverine would still be able to beat Deadpool, Jackman said "a hundred percent" yes.

While there's no word yet about Wolverine's participation in "Deadpool" and future movies in the franchise, Jackman has announced that the upcoming "Logan" movie will be his last outing as Wolverine. After 17 years of playing the character, Jackman is ready to retire.

Jackman first appeared as Wolverine in the 2000 movie "X-Men." He reprised the role in succeeding movies and even starred in his own solo franchise starting with "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." The "X-Men" movie universe has gone through several changes since, but Jackman as Wolverine is the only character that appeared in every film from the original trilogy to the reboots.

The upcoming movie, "Logan," will show Wolverine as an ageing mutant. Although he still has his healing powers and Adamantium claws, his powers will not be as effective as it was before. According to The Wrap, the third "Wolverine" film is looking at an R-rating just like "Deadpool." The movie also stars Patrick Stewart as Professor X.

"Deadpool 2" hits theaters on Jan. 12, 2018.
