The "X-Men" franchise may be losing Mystique played by Jennifer Lawrence, who now wishes to appear in the "Guardians of Galaxy" instead of doing another "X-Men" movie. The actress wants to appear with co-star Chris Pratt who plays Peter Quill in "Guardians" to continue the friendship they share while doing the sci-fi film "Passengers."

Both Lawrence and Pratt are known for their pranks and hilarious antics, which make the "Passengers" lead stars share a special friendship between them. Lawrence revealed in an interview with MTV that she is very much interested to be part of future sequels to the "Guardians of the Galaxy" playing Msytique from the "X-Men."

Lawrence's statements negate her earlier claims that she will still reprise her role as Mystique in "X-Men," possibly because the presence of Pratt in the "Guardians of Galaxy" is another incentive for the 26-year-old actress. However, the idea of Mystique leaving "X-Men" for "Guardians of the Galaxy" may pose a few problems including complicated movie rights.

For one, Mystique is owned by Fox and "Guardians" is owned by Marvel according to Metro. Though recent precedents have indicated a Marvel and Fox swapping of characters, "X-men" will not likely lend Mystique to Marvel.

On the other hand, Marvel will not have any source material to work with that will bring Mystique, even with Lawrence's crowd appeal, into the paths of Peter Quill and his gang of misfits. Comic geeks will naturally point to the "Black Vortex" crossover featured in the comic books wherein Hank McCoy transported the X-Men into the future and shared adventures with the gang from "Guardians of the Galaxy."

However, that particular "X-Men" chapter in the comics was not well-received nor is it a good material for movie, the A.V. Club has learned. If ever a good script may be written to reunite Pratt and Lawrence, it will still have to be a long wait for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" has just finished filming and will be released on April 28, 2017.

For now, fans of both Lawrence and Pratt will just have to see the funny duo not in "X-Men" or "Guardians of the Galaxy" but in "Passengers." The movie is now showing in various theatres.
