One of the world's largest video game companies Nintendo has hinted its consumers for yet another cutting-edge leap of its hybrid video game console Nintendo Switch. If the patent applications are to be believed, it will be getting peripheral headsets that support virtual reality.

The patent also revealed a potential head mounted display (HMD) into which the Nintendo Switch unit could be inserted, based on the patent document filed on June 10, 2016, Gamespot reported. Although it did not specifically pointed out a virtual reality headset but based on the HMD description feature it has written in the document it said that it may present images of a wide viewing angle to a user by enlarging the viewing angle of the images on the display 12 through the lenses, and can enhance the sense of immersion for a user looking at the images.

Users could be in a similar fashion to Google Daydream View, offering a cheap way of experiencing virtual reality that instead of a smartphone one can insert Nintendo's tablet and enjoy Nintendo licensed experiences, PC Mag reported.

Further reports suggested that the patent also seems to include a touch screen, however, Nintendo is still mum about the issue to perhaps surprise its consumers and make them look forward to its big full reveal on January 12, 2017. It can be noted that Nintendo had an initial reveal of Switch and hinted that there will be more extensive hardware plans than what the initial reveal had exposed.

According to PC Mag, an immense amount of detail about the design was also shown such as the Switch handheld, dock and controllers. It reported that the Switch isn't just a game console and portable handheld in one, but it is also Nintendo's answer to virtual reality, although reports emerged that it is not as powerful as the PS4.

While everyone seems to be getting towards the path of virtual reality, it is but fitting for Nintendo to include VR features of its gaming products after all the company is a legend when it comes to home video gaming.
