Sony's Experia Concept development team said that they are aiming to be the first third party mobile device maker to get the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update, which is why they are slowly rolling out the update on devices like the Xperia X (F5121), Xperia X Compact (F5321), and the Xperia X Dual (F5122).

7.1.1 Update?

Sony has already rolled out the Android Nougat update for its Xperia X Performance and its flagship Xperia XZ, and is planning to bring the update to most of its Xperia line-up before the end of 2016, Phone Arena reported. According to the Experia Concept development team, they already have the source code.

Now, they are just waiting for the Compatibility Test Suite from Google and the application suite or the GMS apps. This only shows how aggressive Sony is when it comes to rolling out the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update on its Xperia lineup.

The roll out for Sony's Xperia lineup has already started in countries such as Thailand. Vietnam, Turkey, Russia, and all over Australia. It has also gone live among Xperia users in countries located in the Middle East and Latin America.

With a goal of being the first third party phone maker to embrace the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update, the roll out will definitely be available to other countries beyond those mentioned above.

Phone Details Revealed

The Android 7.1.1 Nougat update will bring in new features, including an image keyboard support and the restart option seen in the power menu, GSM Arena reported. Besides these two new features, reports show that the Android 7.1.1 Nougat will enhance the notification system of the Sony Xperia lineup.

Overall Android 7.1.1 Nougat will simply improve and refine the features in the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. This would definitely bring the phone features to a whole new level as Google has already put on some impressive features in its the Mashmallow platform.
