The future is finally here and the ingenuity of BMW is ushering everyone for a futuristic ride in the company's latest showcase of its HoloActive Touch System for BMW vehicles next month in Las Vegas. Reports said that features of this system will be showcased in January 5-8, 2017 at the Consumer and Electronics Show.

BMW HoloActive Touch system is an interface between the driver and vehicle that acts like a virtual touchscreen. It is a free-floating display that responds to finger gestures with tactile feedback. The Verge reported that the new technology combines a heads-up display, gesture control, and touchscreen operation without direct physical contact with the driver. Drivers perceive a tangible response from the system, like a traditional touchscreen, but they are really just prodding in thin air.

The source added that it is the latest development in a series of gesture command systems that was first applied on the 2016 production 7 Series. It is worth noting that BMW introduced its AirTouch technology during 2016's CES, which responds to simple gestures made with an open hand.

With the new technology, functions can already be controlled without physical contact with materials, at the same time enables the visible and tangible driver-vehicle interaction familiar from conventional touchscreens. BMW HoloActive Touch also allows the user to access the wide variety of services provided by BMW Connected,  bmwblog.com has learned.

What makes the technology remarkable is that the Head-up Display, the image of full-color display is generated by clever use of reflections. The displays are flexibly configurable control pads and visible to the driver next to the steering wheel at the height of the center console. Once a fingertip makes contact with one of these virtual control surfaces, a pulse is emitted and the relevant function is activated all because of a camera that detects the driver's hand movements.

It is amazing how technology has evolved and astounded everyone these days and BMW HoloActive Touch System is truly a cutting-edge and reflection of the company's persistence and passion in innovation and revolution.
