Is Showtime reviving plans for a "Penny Dreadful" Season 4 or is another network interested in picking up the show? After the supernatural drama's surprise end after three seasons, fans have been petitioning for the network and the show's creators to continue "Penny Dreadful." Reports also claim that Eva Green is still interested in working on the show.

"Penny Dreadful" creator John Logan has expressed his intention to end the show the way it did. He believes it is no longer necessary to move forward with new seasons since the show was primarily about Vanessa Ives' struggle with faith and possession. Since Vanessa has already found her peace and is dead, the story has come to a close.

"To me, the show was always going to achieve closure with the death of Vanessa. And all the storylines this season were meant to be leaving characters at a place of appropriate and beautiful stasis," Logan told TVLine. "So it was apparent that this season was leading toward the ending.

In an interview with Variety, Logan explained that Vanessa has always been the muse of the show and that the story was anchored on her struggle. He believes that it would be "an act of bad faith" is he continued with "Penny Dreadful" Season 4 without the muse.

Fans, however, believe that "Penny Dreadful" can still be continued in some way or form, even without the lead, Green's Vanessa Ives, at the center of the story. Those who've seen "Penny Dreadful" would know that the show boasts a stellar list of characters with rich stories that could lead to solid subplots and spinoffs.

There are speculations that a "Penny Dreadful" spinoff series could happen with Catriona (Perdita Weeks) at the center of the story. After all, in the last few episodes of "Penny Dreadful" Season 3 she was being groomed to be Vanessa's successor. It's also likely that a spinoff would follow Mr. Lyle's journey to Egypt.

There are rumors that Netflix is interested in picking up "Penny Dreadful" Season 4, and all that is needed is a new showrunner and director to help the series. Being a horror and supernatural genre, it's not entirely impossible to bring back Vanessa Ives from the dead.
