Samsung recently confirmed that its Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones will directly update to Android 7.1.1 Nougat instead of the 7.0 OS firmware. The third Nougat OS Beta comes with bug fixes, Android security patch, and Samsung's added applications.

The latest news was brought by an XDA forum user who posted a screenshot which says "We are pleased to announce that we will support Android 7.1.1 from the official N OS release." However, the company is still silent with the authenticity of the screenshot.

According to GSM Arena, the latest update values to 530MB that will bring along an Android security patch for the month of December and other added Samsung apps. The Beta version will also include fixed cases as the position of the "close all" button from the "Recent" view was transferred to the bottom side.

Other significant changes are the addition of Samsung Pass and the Samsung Note app, as well as an auto brightness button in Quick Panel and some stability-related improvements and regular bug fixes.

Indian Express reported that the Android 7.1.1 brings features such as app shortcuts, reset button, smart storage, new camera app, new emojis, support tab and moves menu. Interestingly enough, the new set of emojis in the upcoming 7.1.1 update is available in both genders.

In the Nexus department, Android 7.1.1 is bringing App shortcuts to select Nexus devices, including the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6. The Smart Storage feature, exclusive for Nexus devices, will automatically remove old backed-up photos/videos from the phone to allow bigger memory.

In addition, the camera app from the Android 7.1.1 adds additional functions such as Automatic Exposure, Viewfinder grid modes, Smart Burst and AE/FE locking.

Also included in the latest Android firmware is the support for Google's Daydream virtual reality platform, allowing developers to start building immersive VR experience and apps for Android users. Other functions added is a restart button in the power menu, which was missing from the initial Android Nougat release, and support for image keyboards, which allow users to insert stickers and GIFs into apps.

Earlier, Samsung officially released its "Galaxy Beta Program" that allows Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge users to test the Android 7.1 Nougat.
