Just when consumers are finally over Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, Samsung made an announcement that Samsung Galaxy Note 7 owners are going to get a new software update that's going to prevent their phones from charging.

The new update for Galaxy Note 7 is going to release the new update by December 19 and it is going to roll out by the next 30 days. The aim is to completely render Galaxy Note 7 nonfunctional. The Verge reported that the recall made by Samsung was successful. They were able to recall 93 percent of the total units sold, but there are at least 133,000 units that are not accounted for.

Samsung's main reason for their action is they want all Galaxy Note 7 in their possession. They are strongly encouraging the owners to surrender their unit. The company is offering financial incentives to owners who will surrender their unit.

Samsung's other attempt to disable Galaxy Note 7

This is not the first time that Samsung tried to limit the capability of Galaxy Note 7. In the United States, owners are not allowed to charge their phone beyond 60 percent while in Canada, users are getting limited network reception.

How this will affect the launching of Galaxy Note 8

In the midst of this fiasco, the company is launching Galaxy Note 8. Forcing people to surrender their Galaxy Note 7 is like saying Samsung's Galaxy line is really dangerous. The company could have chosen a better time to make their announcement. It is mind boggling why they didn't choose to end the Galaxy Note 7 Saga sooner.

There's no telling whether their update is really going to bring 100 percent recall rate for Galaxy Note 7. Verizon is already refusing to issue the patch because they believed that rendering the mobile useless for their subscribers without any alternative mobile device can be quite inconvenient especially during the holiday season.
