With the hype of Virtual Reality experience getting gamers the run for their money and new class of gaming environment, console manufacturers such as Sony, HTC and Oculus are the first to race for the top on the next big thing in gaming. But in terms of price and near PC-quality gaming performance, Sony's PlayStation VR seemed to edge the game.

PlayStation VR fulfills every gamer's dream by staying as an affordable introduction to quality VR, TechRadar reported. With the VR experience recently being limited to expensive gaming PCs, the PlayStation VR brings a very capable virtual reality to the PS4.

Unlike the competition that require expensive graphics cards in order to taste the VR quality experience, PS VR offers this experience through PlayStation 4's built-in GPU.

Aside from that, PlayStation VR can handle 1080p games on its 920 x RGB x 1080 OLED display at either 90Hz (translating to images being refreshed 90 times per second) or at 120Hz depending on the VR game or application.

Sony even boasts that PlayStation VR's response rate is locked in at around 18ms, recording about 0.002 seconds faster than the highest acceptable latency that makes a user notice the lag in VR. The numbers also match both the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.

With the issues on motion sickness bugging most VR consoles, most PlayStation VR games can only recommend that the users stay in one of two positions, either sitting down or standing up and stationary.

The good features of Sony PS VR continues with the addition of promising 50 new titles on the platform before the end of the year, some to be made by Sony's first-party studios.

In terms of market share, Sony PS VR cover a dominant share of the tech market, citing 30 percent shares, which is ahead of the 11 percent and 6 percent occupied by the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive respectively, Attack of the Fanboy has learned.

The lead on the tech market points to the PlayStation VR's larger audience whereas potentially around 40 to 50 million are PS4 owners, making it possible for the console to cater more customers. Also, the console's $399 price tag is much more attractive compared to Sony's other competitors in the VR market.
