"Star Trek 4" is definitely in the works and Simon Pegg has been teasing fans that his working on something related to the film.

In an image posted on Twitter, Pegg informed fans that he's teaming up again with Doug Jung on "Star Trek 4." Both co-wrote the script for "Star Trek Beyond," the third film in the rebooted sci-fi franchise.

Fans of the "Star Trek" saga will definitely have nothing to worry about the upcoming fourth film as it is in the safe hands of Pegg and Jung. Producer J.J. Abrams has already sung praises for the "Star Trek 4" storyline, which up to now has been kept under wraps.

Perhaps the most important piece of the "Star Trek 4" puzzle that fans know so far is that Chris Hemsworth will be back to play George Kirk, the father of Chris Pine's James T. Kirk. In recall, George Kirk was killed in the opening scene of the first "Star Trek" reboot in 2009. Perhaps this is a hint that "Star Trek 4" will delve in the past and might involve some time traveling.

Abrams told EW that the amazing "Star Trek 4" plot is the reason why they sealed the deal for Hemsworth to appear in the fourth film, which the producer describes is his "favorite 'Star Trek' story."

"Star Trek 4" depended on the success of "Star Trek Beyond" for it to come into fruition. "Star Trek Beyond" didn't perform as well as its predecessor, having raked only $343.5 million in the box office, which is $123.9 million less than what "Star Trek Into Darkness" earned, Cinema Blend reported. The third film is also the lowest-earning in the franchise. Even so, "Star Trek Beyond" made up for its box office under performance through rave reviews. The movie currently has an 84 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and it has a 7.2 out of 10 score on IMDb.

The core "Star Trek" cast members will reprise their roles in "Star Trek 4." The cast will include Pine, Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, John Cho and Karl Urban.
