Apple Inc. came out with its list of 2016's Best Of selections, which highlights the different media sold on Apple's digital stores, from e-books to TV shows,and to apps. Unsurprisingly, the App Store named the "Pokémon Go" as the Breakout Hit of 2016.

Although Niantic's wildly successful game didn't place in the top two, the "Pokémon Go" mobile game is particularly special, for the reason that the app decorated headlines for weeks and the game was pretty much the only thing game enthusiasts talked about for the majority of July 2016. In spite of the fact that the hype did eventually taper off as expected, there's still no denying the kind of immediate impact the mobile game had, Apple Insider reported.

Nevertheless, Apple also announced the top apps based on overall App Store charts throughout the year, the image messaging Snapchat won the Top Free iPhone App, while the hilarious new game "Heads Up!" was named the Top Paid iPhone App, according to Mac Rumors.

On the other hand, the augmented reality game recently received another version update, wherein the update added a few tweaks to the mobile game. One of the major changes that came along with the Pokémon update is a welcome quality of life improvement. Trainers can now transfer a massive Pokémon at once.

Players of the augmented reality game can select multiple Pokémon they would like to transfer by just pressing and holding on these creatures in the Pokédex screen. Previously, the players have to go to each individual Pokémon creature and run through their smartphone's menu options one at a time, Polygon has learned.

Furthermore, part of the "Pokémon Go" update are additions to the gym battle interface. Players can now see each type of the Pokémon combatant. The amount of candy that buddy Pokémon is carrying is now displayed.
