The latest Android Nougat update of Google is hitting Pixel and Nexus devices as of Monday, bringing version 7.1.1 features to the Pixel and Pixel XL phones, the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X smartphone, Pixel C tablet, Nexus 9 tablet and the Nexus Player dongle.

Google's latest Android Nougat update is hitting the devices wirelessly. Nonetheless, users can also install the update manually through a flashing factory images provided by the tech company.

The NMF26O build Android 7.1.1 Nougat software goes out to the Pixel smartphones, and the Pixel C will acquire the NMF26H build. All Nexus 6P models (except Verizon) such as the Nexus 5X models and Nexus 9 models will take the NMF26F build. The NMF26J build rolls out to the media streaming device, Nexus Player. All these updates came along in the 7.1.1 beta.

As the Android 7.1.1 Nougat rolls out, these devices will officially receive new features such as App shortcuts, updates to the Google keyboard and circular app icons, among others. The Android 7.1.1 Nougat update will also include the December 2016 security patch of Google, which addresses 21 high-severity vulnerabilities, 12 moderate vulnerabilities and six critical vulnerabilities, Android reported.

In spite of that, the Nexus 6 will no longer receive software support as of October 2016, and will get the Android 7.0.0 update instead of Android 7.1.1, XDA developers has learned.

In addition, consumers can expect smartphone manufacturers, that haven't already announced the Android update, may now update their devices to Android 7.1.1. The Android 7.1.1 Nougat update may also be the software that will be announced and launched in early 2017.

The Android 7.1.1 update is essential for the reason that it will become the first starting point for other OEMs who tends to update devices onto Android 7.1. Previously, the Android 7.1 was exclusively for Pixel, and later on distributed to Nexus devices.
