"The 100" season 4 release date, plot twists, and new cast are gathered from hints and bits of information given by casts and showrunner Jason Rotheberg in the recent San Diego Comic Con. It appears that "The 100" characters will be facing another terrible villain, Mother Nature herself, a seemingly unbeatable foe that will test the mettle of Lexa as leader.

"The 100" season 4 has already been confirmed by the CW channel following good ratings that the previous season has set. The post-apocalyptic sci-fi show is adapted from Kass Morgan's sci-fi trilogy and will feature 13 more episodes for "The 100" season 4.

Rotheberg already confirmed that Chai Romruen as Ilan, a recurring character in previous season, will be featured more in "The 100" season 4. Ilan is a Grounder who will join Clarke and according to Rotheberg, will raise the show to a new level. Ilan is rumored to be the future love interest of Clarke (Eliza Taylor) replacing Lexa (Alycia Debnam-Carter), who died in last season.

Rotherberg revealed that the prevailing theme of the last seasons will still be in "The 100" season 4, which is to test just how far Clarke will go to save her people. Clarke will be facing what her father struggled with in the Ark, which is to decide whether to tell the people about the truth or withhold it for fear of chaos, the the Den of Geek has learned.

Clarke has shared what she knows with Bellamy (Bob Morley) in the previous season of "The 100" and the two will do everything they can to save as much people as possible. Bellamy will help Clarke as a way of seeking redemption, after being indirectly involved in killing his sister Octavia's true love, Lincoln (Ricky Whittle). Rumors have it that Octavia may be beset by thoughts of vengeance and may even attempt to murder Bellamy.

Meanwhile, the greatest villain of "The 100" season 4 is none other than Mother Nature herself, who will exact wrath on Earth in the form of radiation leaks, Uproxx reported. As to how Clarke and her people will try to survive a host of environmental disasters is what fans will anticipate in "The 100" season 4.
