Due to the overwhelming success of the first season, Marvel has announced via a video on Twitter that Marvel's "Luke Cage Season 2" will stream on Netflix. No release date has been announced as the video, located in Pop's Barber Shop, simply said "Coming Soon."

"Luke Cage Season 2," according to Comic Book, will most likely follow Marven's Iron Fist and the crossover Marvel's Defenders series, which will both stream on Netflix next year. This is the third Marvel series to get renewed on Netflix as Marvel's Daredevil was renewed for a third season and Marvel's Jessica Jones has been renewed for a second.

According to Cinema Blend, a second season for "Luke Cage Season 2" was a no-brainer with it earning a 90 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Cage took one of the most difficult characters to bring to life and made it look like a piece of cake. The TV series tells the story of a wrongfully accused man becoming a superhero for hire.

Season 1 suffered through the difficulty of sustaining the overall momentum of the story over the course of 13 episodes and with "Luke Cage Season 2" also containing the same amount, it needs to make the necessary adjustments in order to have better quality. Another area where the second season can improve on is the Diamondback storyline as that development in the ending of season 1 was not exactly welcomed by fans even though Cottonmouth and Black Mariah are two of Marvel's most popular villains.

"Luke Cage Season 2" stars Mike Colter as Cage, Mahershala Ali as Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Theo Rossi as Shades, Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple and Sonia Braga as Soledad Temple.
