"The Walking Dead" creator Scott Gimple said the movie version will definitely happen even if there are currently no plans to start production yet. He adds it is possible that most of the cast will reprise their roles but he wants big name actors to play the lead characters in the movie.

Just like other hit TV series, "The Walking Dead" movie can't start production while the TV series is going on. With the show being given the green light for a season 8, it may be a while before fans get to see the movie version since the latest time for production to start would be the time season 8 concludes.

According to Comic Book, Scott Gimple revealed making a movie version of "The Walking Dead" is a cool idea, adding the questions about it keeps on getting asked to him all the time. There are a lot of plots pitched around for the movie and it will likely focus on the remaining survivors of the zombie outbreak gathering together in order to find a cure.

According to Undead Walking, Scott Gimple and director Greg Nicotero revealed the story of the "The Walking Dead" is so important that it may be hard to carve it into a two hour movie. They would certainly object if they have to condense the stories just to finish tales right away.

One option thrown around is to create character vignettes prior to the movie. Fans who don't watch the TV series would want to know the "The Walking Dead" characters before they are shown in the big screen so the movie does not have to waste time introducing them in the movie. Speaking of characters, Gimple saying he wants big actors to play them can only leave fans imagining possibilities like Channing Tatum as Daryl and James Franco as Rick.
