"The X-Files" season 11 is set to be aired in 2018, the latest, with just "mere logistics" to resolve according to showrunner Chris Carter. Moreover, Scully may finally have her own desk in that cubby-hole sized office now that Mulder ended in a bad shape in season 10 finale.

For many fans of "The X-Files," season 10 seems like a wait forever, but the show pushed through despite only having six episodes and a cliffhanger ending that merits a continuation. Creator Carter, in an interview with TV Line, expressed the same sentiment and hinted that another season will explain the back stories of the two characters after a long separation and resolve the mystery left by the last season finale.

Fox Television CEO Dana Walden has been very supportive and encouraging to both David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson who plays Fox Mulder and Dana Scully respectively. Walden and Carter have been in constant talks pushing for season 11, which is impeded by "mere logistics," which can be worked out but more likely with delays.

Previously, "The X-Files" Season 11 was slated for a fall 2017 release, but is now pushed back to 2018 because of the unavailability of the actors particularly Anderson who is in demand right now in cinema, stage and on TV, the Inquisitr has learned.

Anderson is currently doing "American Gods," but the actress has expressed that she is interested in doing another season for the "The X-Files." Duchovny, on the other hand, has just finished "Aquarius," which is rumored to be cancelled, thereby freeing his schedule to shoot "The X-Files" season 11.

Also freeing their schedules will be Mitch Pileggi who is said to be returning and reprising his role as Walter Skinner, the FBI assistant director, who will be giving Mulder and Scully shocking revelations. Shocking rumors also abound that Scully may have been injected with Alien DNA, which makes her immune to the Spartan Virus that almost killed Mulder.

Moreover, Mulder will definitely be sidelined, promoting Scully to having her own desk in that tiny office for the X-file cases. In season 10, both characters underwent a reversal of roles when Maggie died with a caring and gentle Mulder amid a stoic and unaffected Scully.

Both characters will need to have their own time onscreen so that fans can understand how the years affected their lives. "The X-Files" season 10 failed to do this in just six episodes. Fox's Walden hopes that "The X-Files" season 11 will accomplish much even if there will only be eight or ten episodes.
