Qualcomm previously announced its tie up with Samsung for the new Snapdragon 835 chipset that will be featured for the Galaxy S8. Now, China's Xiaomi also sees the new chipset packed on their upcoming Mi 6 flagship, making this and the Galaxy S8 as the first smartphones to pack the latest Snapdragon iteration.

The new chipset continues to build a better functionality and improved utilization of network speeds on mobile devices, as Qualcomm officially announced the Snapdragon 835, revealing that processor was dedicated to support Samsung's 10-nanometer process.

In addition, Samsung's head of its chip-making business, Jong Shik Yoon, released a statement referencing on the recent collaboration by Qualcomm and Samsung for the improved processor of Galaxy S8.

"We are pleased to have the opportunity to work closely with Qualcomm Technologies in producing the Snapdragon 835 using our 10nm FinFET technology. This collaboration is an important milestone for our foundry business as it signifies confidence in Samsung's leading chip process technology," said Yoon.

Using the 10nm FinFET encapsulated in Samsung's chassis, the Snapdragon 835 processor will offer a smaller chip footprint, giving OEMs more usable space inside upcoming products to support larger batteries or slimmer designs.

However, rumors suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will not be the only and first smartphone to sport the new processor next year, as Xiaomi could get the latest powerhouse chipset designed for its Mi 6 device.

As per PhoneArena, CEO of IHS Markit Research Kevin Wong has disclosed that the Xiaomi Mi 6 could be one of the phones to adopt Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chipset. Now, both the Galaxy S8 and Mi 6 are expected to be released in March.

GSMArena furthered that the speculation should still be taken lightly as previous rumors from China regarding the Oppo Find 9 sporting the new hardware was recently debunked by company representatives of Oppo.

The Galaxy S8 will pack impressive specs on its chassis: a 5.5-inch screen display with 4K resolution, two screen variants, a Force Touch technology for zooming and creating app shortcuts, an enhanced digital assistant called Viv, S Pen support, Android 7.1 Nougat and 12MP + 13MP rear and front-facing camera.

Unfortunately, the Xiaomi's Mi 6 specs are still a mystery aside from its new chipset; however, more details are expected to be unveiled at CES 2017.
