AMD Zen CPU to Challenge Intel Core i?

AMD has been walking in a slow pace when it comes to CPU. Now, as it gears up to preview the latest advanced CPU at the Game Awards, Zen-based chip is up against Intel's Core i.

AMD seems to have realized that it has gone far behind Intel in terms of processor performance. After years of hard work, Zen could be the answer that changes the game. The chipmaker claims that Zen will be impressively 40 percent faster than its predecessor.

The 14-nanometer process supports simultaneous multi-threading - a technology that Intel has employed to create multi-tasking systems. Zen CPU will be AM4-based that features USB 3.1, and DDR4 Memory compatible.

AMD Zen CPU Pricepoint Speculation

Rumor has it that the Zen CPU high-end edition will sell for $500 whereas the low-tier will be priced at $350. Compared to Intel Core i7 quad-core, Zen CPU is far cheaper but performs better, CIO reported.

AMD Zen CPU release date

The upcoming Zen will be available in Q1 2017 according to the company's official announcement but gamers can watch a sneak peek of the powerhouse at The Game Awards on Dec. 1.

The event hosted by video game journalist Geoff Keighley is not to be missed as viewers will find out everything they need to know about Zen architecture. Other than Zen preview, The Game Awards will reportedly showcase Nintendo's "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild".
