For a lot of people, not only students, managing themselves and their time is a very challenging task. The goals look good on paper but it takes a lot of self-discipline and self-will to follow through. The Harvard Business Review recently released their top management tips filled with actionable steps. Here are some of them.

One of the top management tips often given by experts is getting through your to-do list. Harvard Business Review suggests that the best way to do this is to be able to accomplish three things on your to-do list before lunchtime. Statistics back this up with data showing that teams who are ahead by halftime are likely to win the game.

Another surefire way of cleaning your to-do list is by doing similar tasks at the same time. That's because the mind has been programmed to naturally thrive when repetition happens.

Harvard Business Review also suggests that one of the top management tips most leaders often apply in their lives is by having a meeting with themselves. This means setting aside time to be quiet and just meditate upon all the things that have happened in the previous week. This should be compulsory no matter how busy you are.

The next one on the top management tips will not appeal to the whiners. Harvard Business Review said that the worst habit a leader has is excusing any bad behavior as "this is just the way I am." Instead of focusing on the difficulty to change, think how this bad behavior is actually an impediment to your success.

Lastly, keep yourself fired up and find ways how to improve yourself. Don't wait for trouble to come before trying to change yourself. Instead, initiate change before it happens by evaluating yourself what you can do in your present position now.
